A Complete History of Soul Music

6th October 2019, Lewes Con Club

Performed by Steve ‘Snips’ Parsons and the Chain Gang
with very special guests The Paddock Singers, directed by Ruth Kerr.

What’s A Complete History of Soul Music all about?

We asked Steve to explain…

“The Soul Stirrer show I did back in May based on the life of the great Sam Cooke was the first time I had performed a ‘musical lecture’ on a concert stage. I loved doing it and the audience ‘got it’ so I have expanded the concept and adapted it to include my own life experience with the 20th Century phenomena known as Soul Music.

I have also expanded the line-up to include the Paddock Singers under the direction of Ruth Kerr. This collaboration, along with my band The Chain Gang, has opened up new territory for me to explore. The show features both original material and classic soul songs specially re-arranged for the Con Club / Ripple show.

And yes – that is me on the poster. I was 2 years old and ready for anything the world could throw at me.”

Can I get a Witness?

Steve ’Snips’ Parsons is the blue-eyed soul singer from Sharks.
