An 8-piece jazz-ska from Lewes/Brighton. Three horns, two vocalists, guitar, bass, keys, drums – the Toons play ska classics, originals and skanked-up versions of jazz and pop standards. Ska Toons was inspired by the Skatalites back in the day – all respect to them – and were formed in 2002 – or thereabouts: they’re veterans of the Lewes and Brighton music scene. Fronted by the wonderfully skatting Matty Eeles, and featuring great solo-ing on top of a tight and funky rhythm section, the Toons have played loads of weddings, functions, whatever (no funerals so far – but probably not a great idea). Upbeat and great for dancing. ‘Nuff said!
